Outward Hound Nina Ottosson Worker Puzzle Dog Toy Information

With a lot of challenges to keep your dog active and engaged, providing hours of fun for your doggy genius! The four outer blocks reward quickly once pulled out, the four inner blocks are more challenging. Just hide treats in each compartment and watch your dog slide around the various moving pieces to try and find them.

Key Benefits:

  • Stimulate your dog to use his brain to find the treats.
  • Built in pieces stay in place so pieces won't go missing.
  • Durable easy clean material will not splinter or snap.
  • Make from a compostable wood look material.

Level 3 challenge:  A bit more challenging than Level 2 Nina Ottosson dog games and dog training puzzles, the Dog Worker helps to challenge your dog in new ways, while presenting them with tasty treat rewards with each discovery! If your dog has mastered introductory puzzles, Level 3 games are a smart choice!

Suitable for: all ages and sized dogs

Made from composible material, easy to clean and won't splinter or snap.

Place treats in circular blocks and compartments in the base. Swivel flippers to cover tracks and lock spinning top. Let the games begin! Place game on floor and encourage your pet to seek treats. Dogs are smarter than you think. Sometimes we just need to teach them! Swivel flippers off the tracks to make this game easier and show your dog how the blocks slide.

To wash your dog’s Dog Worker, simply remove all treats/kibble and hand wash with warm soapy water, rinse clean and dry. Fill again for more fun!

We recommend that your pet plays with toys under supervision, especially if your pet is likely to eat or pull apart the toy.

Our Border Collie loves this puzzle ---and luckily it can be re-set so that it's a different challenge each time she plays with it. She solves it very quickly ----it may amuse other dogs for longer!!! WELL MADE, WELL DESIGNED and a great Birthday present for the dog that has everything for outside play, but needs a rainy day activity.

I wanted to do a comprehensive review on this toy as it's rather expensive and folks might want to know more before they purchase. The Good: - Attractive looking toy. The material that they use is high quality and has a nice feel to it. They have gone out of their way to make it look a bit like a wood mix and it just seems to be a higher quality than other completely plastic toys. Keeps smart dogs engaged! Bjorn figured out the routine of the puzzle after a few sessions, however he still gets a lot of entertainment out of it. It keeps him occupied for a good 15-20minutes at a time and it's fun to watch the dog try and get every single piece out of the puzzle. - Doesn't get messy. Because you are mostly using kibble/treats the toy doesn't get too messy and is great to use in the house on a rainy day. It will definitely get a bit slobbery, what dog toy doesn't, but you can rinse it off easily after they are finished playing. The Bad: - You have to watch your dog. I know that all dog toys say to have supervised play, but you definitely have to WATCH your dog with this toy. Bjorn unfortunately discovered that if he rips off the spinning bit in the middle he can get to the treats faster (and if you knew that, why wouldn't you!). If you buy this toy I suggest your doggo is either quite weak jawed, gentle as a lamb with toys, OR, or has good 'leave it' skills. Dogs are opportunistic and will definitely go the easy route. Alternatively Bjorn will try to throw the toy if I'm not paying attention- also not ideal! - Centre spinner is a bit of a design flaw The idea with the centre spinner is that the dog has to nose and paw it to get the kibble out. Your dog will be able to lick under it to get the kibble out, which defeats the purpose of it turning. The best way to get around this is to use large treats for the centre holes! I tried this and it worked like a charm. Kibble is fine for the pegs as the dogs can't get under them. Conclusion and tips: - Don't use peanut butter as an added challenge like they suggest, cleaning the toy afterward is a nightmare and they can reach the centre without spinning the wheel. Chopped up Dentastixs have been a great treat to use as you can make the pieces larger or smaller depending. -The toy would be best suited to food motivated dogs. -If your dog gets easily frustrated introduce the toy to him gradually. Just fill the first fish tail flappy spots on the toy which are more easily accessible. I would definitely purchase this brand of toy again, especially anything by Nina Ottosson. Bjorn really gets excited when I bring it out. And although I wish that he couldn't reach the centre spaces, it's pretty minor as you can use bigger treats. A good toy all around and if you are willing to spend a bit of extra cash, I would say is worth it.
